Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a rhizomatous plant renowned for its deep golden-yellow colour and medicinal benefits. Nigeria produces high-quality dried split turmeric in northern regions such as Kaduna and Kano, where loamy soils and tropical climates support excellent yield.

After 8–10 months of growth, the rhizomes are harvested, cleaned, and boiled to enhance colour and aroma. They are then split into halves or quarters and sun- or mechanically dried to the desired moisture level.
